We've polled the fans, crunched the numbers and then ignored it all to name the best players in each position for the 2017 season.

Winner: Cameron Smith

I almost didn't bother running a poll here, as there was only one real option, future immortal and arguably the best player of the modern generation in Cameron Smith. You may not like him, but he deserved 100% of the vote here.

He is in a world of his own in every aspect of the game. His stats are brilliant, almost 40 tackles a game, over 50 metres run per game, 11 try assists, but they don't do him justice.

His kicking game, his direction and his distribution is second to none. For all the joking on social media, there is no better captain in the game.
