The Dally M awards might not go ahead this year but that hasn't stopped us from naming our Team of the Year!
We've polled the fans, crunched the numbers and then ignored it all to name the best players in each position for the 2017 season.
Who makes the side and who wins the Dally M Medal in 2017?
Prop
Winner: Paul Vaughan
For mine, THE signing of the season, Paul Vaughan almost singlehandedly returned the fire to the Dragons. His fellow forwards lifted off his efforts, and they were super human. I still can't believe he didn't play Origin in 2017. Making over 144 metres and 3o tackles per game, Vaughan really left Ricky Stuart blushing after his decision to let the 110-kilo monster walk. His eight tries were worth their weight in gold, as he helped reignite a previously lifeless attack for the Dragons. Nine line breaks and a mountain of tackle breaks prove how hard is to bring down.
Nathan Brown finishes second in the poll, and in my view, for both the prop of the year, and buy of the year. Last season, Brown was in the headlines for mainly the wrong reasons, but his 2017 has been nothing short of incredible. Although he played the season in the number 13 jumper, he played like a middle forward, and to be honest I felt his season deserved recognition. 150+ metres a game show the amount of damage he does, but what can't be measured are the bruises he inflicted on opposition forwards.
Front rower of the year? @zerotackle
