The Dally M awards might not go ahead this year but that hasn't stopped us from naming our Team of the Year!
We've polled the fans, crunched the numbers and then ignored it all to name the best players in each position for the 2017 season.
Who makes the side and who wins the Dally M Medal in 2017?
Halfback
Winner: Nathan Cleary
The upset of the polling, and I couldn't agree more. NSW's problem for the past, almost decade, has been in the number seven, but in the Panther's youngster, the answer has finally arrived. 11 tries, eight line breaks, eight try assists, and a mountain of points make the 19-year-old the premier number seven this season. It's incredible to believe he is so young, given the level of his performances in a side that hardly set the competition on fire in 2017. The real questions start now as we approach the finals, but Cleary could do no more in his 23 appearances across the season.
Cooper Cronk, again, proved his class. Any side who isn't in for his services next season (my belief is that he will retire, especially should the Storm lift the trophy on October 1st) is kidding themselves. He's the best halfback in the competition and will head into the World Cup as the Kangaroo's key, but 2017 was the year of his heir apparent. 13 try assists, four line breaks and six tries show he hasn't lost a step. That's not even taking into the account the job he did on the Blues ... again! sigh
Halfback of the season? @zerotackle
