The Dally M awards might not go ahead this year but that hasn't stopped us from naming our Team of the Year!

We've polled the fans, crunched the numbers and then ignored it all to name the best players in each position for the 2017 season.

Who makes the side and who wins the Dally M Medal in 2017?

Winner: Gareth Widdop

I know I'm going to cop grief for picking the Dragon's number six over the more fancied Cameron Munster, but simply put I can't believe the season the Englishman produced in a side that missed the eight. 10 tries, 18 try assists and 11 breaks tell a story. Last season the Dragons were putrid, and Gareth Widdop looked like he was finished. His 2017 has been spectacular, and his efforts went a long way to restoring pride in the Red V. They may have missed the finals, but Widdop couldn't have done much more. He is England's key in the upcoming World Cup.

Cameron Munster is a freak of a footballer and has a Dally M medal in his future. His stats aren't overly impressive, with just the one try, seven line breaks and 12 try assists, but his kicking game, ball movement and work in defence puts him in rare company. Craig Bellamy instils unparalleled work ethic in his players, and Cameron Munster has that influence written all over him.
