The Cronulla Sharks lost their Round 1 match against the Cowboys last night but the bigger concern is the injury suffered by young winger Sione Katoa.
Katoa suffered a facial injury after Cowboys player Javid Bowen landed heavily on his head while being tackled.
Katoa was taken straight to the hospital upon leaving the field and early reports suggest he might have a broken jaw.
Scans will be needed to confirm the extent of the injury.
Bad news w Sione Katoa going to hospital last night for X-rays on suspected broken jaw. Seemed to be caused by Bowen landing on him here.
If fracture confirmed most require 4-6 wks recovery, worst case can be ~10 wks (severe/multiple fractures). Hopefully just a few loose teeth pic.twitter.com/Qn4HJkc2jx— NRL PHYSIO (@nrlphysio) March 9, 2018
