The Parramatta Eels have announced that Willis Meehan has been given approval by the NRL to train with the Parramatta Eels for the rest of the 2017 season.

The club has confirmed though that while Willis can train with the first-grade side, he won't be eligible to play first-grade in 2017.

He will, however, be available for the Wentworthville Magpies in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Cup competition.

Meehan was dropped by the Sydney Roosters in 2015 with the youngster unable to keep his personal life away from his professional career.

He then joined Manly in 2016 but was then released by the Sea Eagles before the start of the 2017 season to allow him to pursue his boxing career.
