The Wests Tigers have announced the re-signing of Matt Eisenhuth on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2019 season.
Since making his first-grade debut earlier this season Eisenhuth has become a regular in Wests Tigers’ NRL side, making 10 appearances and earning a spot in the run-on side while averaging an impressive 117 metres and 35 tackles per game.
The former Australian Schoolboy expressed his delight to remain at Wests Tigers.
“For me, it was a pretty easy decision to extend my time here,” Eisenhuth said.
“This club stood by me and gave me a shot nobody else was and they rewarded me with a debut and constant first-grade, so in my mind, I wasn’t looking to go anywhere else.
“It’s been a long road and I’ve had some ups and downs,” he said. “I think I’ve been improving week in and week out, so I’m very happy to be here for the next couple of years.”
Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said he was pleased to see Eisenhuth remain at the Club, and looked forward to watching him take the next step in his career.
"On and off the field Matt has shown that he encompasses the values that the Wests Tigers are all about,” said Cleary. “I’m delighted that Matt will continue to develop his career here at Wests Tigers, he’ll be a highly valued member of the team into the future.”
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe echoed Cleary’s sentiments for Eisenhuth’s hard work and dedication.
“Since arriving at Wests Tigers, Matt has shown tremendous drive and desire to achieve what he has and I’m thrilled to see him sign on here,” Pascoe said.
“He has overcome a lot to get to where he is in the NRL, Matt thoroughly deserved his chance and it’s pleasing to see him continue to grow as a player on and off the field.
“Matt is a quality young man and we’re very pleased to have him in our organisation,” he said.
