For the purpose of this list, we've only considered players who are known primarily as a five-eighth.

Of course, there is big cross-over potential with halfbacks, however, we've stuck with players most recently recognised in the six jersey.

4. Cody Walker

It almost came down to a literal coin toss between Walker and the next player on the list as to who misses out on the top three. Make no mistake, this is more 3A than four. He is a magnificent player and ended the season as the form five-eighth.

His 2020 form was top class with 10 tries, 21 try assists, 17 line break assists, just under 100 metres run per game and just over 100 kicking metres per game. This is in a side also featuring Adam Reynolds, a hugely dominant playmaker.

Walker earned his Origin selection based on form and there's a line of thinking that his inclusion earlier in Game One may have changed the series outcome. He has plenty of Origin footy ahead of him if he continues his incredible for in red and green.

  1. Youโ€™re biased. Wighton is still mostly only going to damage opposition teams , if they donโ€™t tackle well. As heโ€™s mostly just a running 5/8th.
