For the purpose of this list, we've only considered players who are known primarily as a five-eighth.

Of course, there is big cross-over potential with halfbacks, however, we've stuck with players most recently recognised in the six jersey.

1. Cameron Munster

The undisputed number one, number six in the game, and I don't think it's even particularly close right now, is the man who took both the Storm and the QLD Maroons to huge victories in 2020; Cameron Munster.

Stats are extremely important when grading players however never has there been a better example of them not telling the full story than in the case of Cam Munster. Four tries, eight try assists, seven line-break assists, and just under 100 metres per game are solid, but Munster offers so much more.

His aggression, even his mere presence cause huge panic out wide. He tore the Blues to shreds in the Origin series after taking the Storm all the way. If I'm picking a World XI, Munster is my number six without any thought required whatsoever.

  1. Youโ€™re biased. Wighton is still mostly only going to damage opposition teams , if they donโ€™t tackle well. As heโ€™s mostly just a running 5/8th.
