Everyone's talking about the big names in the NRL that have made the move to a rival club.
Shaun Johnson, Angus Crichton and a bunch of other stars will run out wearing different jerseys this season and all are expected to make a big impact.
But for all the big name signings, there are a few shrewd signings who I believe have slipped under the radar.
5. Kane Elgey (Gold Coast Titans to Manly Sea Eagles)
Kane Elgey had a difficult four seasons at the Titans despite showcasing his brilliant potential on a number of occasions.
The 25-year-old half struggled with injury and couldn't manage a full season to build up consistent form.
Elgey will be competing with Trent Hodkinson for the five-eighth role at Manly and it will be exciting to see how Elgey compliments an accomplished and experienced halfback like Daly Cherry-Evans.
This could be a make-or-break season for the young half with a lot to prove.
I hope Elgey is fit and firing this year.
We need him to fire and a couple of outside backs (Hoppa/Garrick/Parker/Suli) to fire if we are any chance to make the 8.
You mean Leeson Ah Mau?
I really rate Ryan Matterson. He can be a Nsw backrower I my opinion. Ready under used at the Chocks. Quality players
After making his NRL debut from the Sydney Roosters as a 5/8 he was developed by the Chooks into a forward and over the past 3 season has bulked up unbelievably big. We will miss Ryan Matterson. Great hard runner and great defender. The Roosters were not prepared to offer him the amount that Wests got him for. Good luck at the Magpies and Tigers colours.๐
Who can’t be a NSW back rower at the moment. You have Boyd Cordner, Tyson Frizell, Wade Graham, Angus Crichton, Josh Jackson, Tyrone Peachey and Tariq Sims already with experience. Let’s not forget either about the potential players coming up with Tevita Pangai Junior, Isaah Yeo and Shaun Lane. Matterson will need to have a top quality season if he wants to stand out among those names.
