Everyone's talking about the big names in the NRL that have made the move to a rival club.

Shaun Johnson, Angus Crichton and a bunch of other stars will run out wearing different jerseys this season and all are expected to make a big impact.

But for all the big name signings, there are a few shrewd signings who I believe have slipped under the radar.

4. Ryley Jacks (Melbourne Storm to Gold Coast Titans)

It's still difficult to pick who's going to partner Ash Taylor in the halves for the Titans - young gun AJ Brimson, returning Tyrone Roberts or new signing Ryley Jacks.

Despite having only played 25 NRL games for Melbourne and being behind Cooper Cronk, Cameron Munster and Brodie Croft in his two years with the Storm, Jacks is my pick to get the gig.

The level-headed five-eighth is mature and can take some pressure of Taylor with the ability to take control of the team and allow Taylor to embrace his ball-running game.

  1. I hope Elgey is fit and firing this year.
We need him to fire and a couple of outside backs (Hoppa/Garrick/Parker/Suli) to fire if we are any chance to make the 8.

  2. After making his NRL debut from the Sydney Roosters as a 5/8 he was developed by the Chooks into a forward and over the past 3 season has bulked up unbelievably big. We will miss Ryan Matterson. Great hard runner and great defender. The Roosters were not prepared to offer him the amount that Wests got him for. Good luck at the Magpies and Tigers colours.๐Ÿ˜˜

  3. Who can’t be a NSW back rower at the moment. You have Boyd Cordner, Tyson Frizell, Wade Graham, Angus Crichton, Josh Jackson, Tyrone Peachey and Tariq Sims already with experience. Let’s not forget either about the potential players coming up with Tevita Pangai Junior, Isaah Yeo and Shaun Lane. Matterson will need to have a top quality season if he wants to stand out among those names.
