One of the most competitive positions in the entire NRL is centre where speed, skill, strength and defence are all necessary to succeed.

These are 10 players that have excelled in the centres.

Jarrod Croker

The Raiders captain, Jarrod Croker, has shown he is a reliable hardworking player, despite being smaller than many of his rivals. Croker has an ability to find the line, possesses great speed and is a determined leader that the Raiders rely on.

Josh Dugan

While discussion about whether Josh Dugan’s best position is centre or fullback will not stop anytime soon, the Sharks 2018 recruit has shown he is very capable in both positions. Dugan is strong both with and without the ball and while he’s not the most natural centre, he has shown he’s capable of representing Australia and New South Wales in the role.

Curtis Scott

At just 20 years of age, Curtis Scott is already impressing NRL fans with his ability. While he will continue to improve, Scott looks to be the complete package as a centre, slotting right into one of the most professional teams in the NRL with ease.

Michael Jennings

A former Australian and New South Wales representative, Michael Jennings is still an excellent player. Jennings boasts incredible speed and has over a decade of experience in the game, making him an incredible threat.

Euan Aitken

Another young centre that has impressed NRL viewers is the Dragon’s Euan Aitken. Aitken’s strength and attacking ability have helped the Dragons become one of the best-attacking outfits in 2018 and there are plenty suggesting he should represent the Blues this year.

Peta Hiku

Peta Hiku has arguably reached career-best form since joining the Warriors for the 2018 season. Hiku is a well-rounded player, boasting plenty of speed and strength, but his ball-playing and offloading ability have allowed him to reach a new level this season.

Greg Inglis

One of the greatest centres in the history of the NRL, Greg Inglis is still a great player despite being past his best. Inglis has shown he is one of the strongest players in the game and he still boasts speed as well as a try-scoring ability.

Latrell Mitchell

One of the best-attacking centres in the NRL, Latrell Mitchell has been one of the best players for the Roosters this season. Mitchell is scoring for fun at the moment and as his defence improves he is rapidly becoming one of the best centres in the game.

James Roberts

Despite a troubled start to his NRL career James Roberts has become one of the biggest attacking threats in the NRL since joining the Broncos. Roberts is one of the fastest players in rugby league and is an incredible try-scorer that will continue to improve.

Will Chambers

Since his return to the NRL in 2012 Will Chambers has quickly become one of the best centres in the competition, with an incredibly strong all-around game. His exceptional defence is matched by his strong attacking ability that has made him one of the first players selected in both the Australian and Queensland teams.
