Todd Carney has turned down a multi-million deal with a Super League club to return to Australia and press his claims for an NRL return.
7Sport is reporting that Carney has turned down a $1.2 million deal from Hull KR to play for Intrust Super Cup team Northern Pride in 2018.
31-year-old Carney still has the desire to play in the NRL and the move back to Australia gives him the opportunity to showcase his skills.
It's unclear if the deal with the Pride has any clauses which would allow Carney to leave should an NRL team look to sign him.
It was reported recently that Raiders coach Ricky Stuart had flirted with the idea of a return to Canberra for Carney but the board shot down the idea given his history with the club.
Carney has a long history of indiscretions through his NRL career. Sacked by the Raiders, Roosters and most recently the by Cronulla after a photograph emerged of him appearing to urinate in his own mouth.
Just heard Todd Carney has signed multi year deal to finish his Rugby League career with Northern Pride in @IntrustSuperCup. @7NewsCairns
