3. Chris Grevsmuhl

Throughout the early part of his career Chris Grevsmuhl was showing he had talent, representing Queensland Under 20s and the Junior Kangaroos as well as being named on the bench of the 2012 NYC Team of the Year.

Despite signing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the 2014 season he spent the entire year playing for the club's feeder side the North Sydney Bears. Not making his debut in the top grade side in the opening round of the 2015 season.

Finishing the season with six tries from his 22 matches he was awarded the 2015 John Sattler Rookie of the Year Award. His career at the Rabbitohs ended not long after.

The 2016 season started with the fact he had signed a 2-year deal with the Penrith Panthers starting in 2017, just mere weeks after he had agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Rabbitohs.

Grevsmuhl was one of eight players banned from representing Queensland for 12-months for breaking an Emerging Queensland Squad team curfew. He walked out on the Rabbitohs after claiming that he refused to play under then coach Michael McGuire and was transferred mid-season to the Penrith Panthers.

After playing 14 games for the Panthers throughout 2016 Grevsmuhl was released from the remainder of his contract on compassionate grounds. Linking with the Gold Coast Titans for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Grevsmuhl made just four appearances for the Titans before he and the club parted ways when shoulder injury ruled him out of the remainder of the 2017 season. On the same day there were reports that he had conned fans of the club by taking money for a number of his shirts, however, failing to deliver the goods.

To date, the Gold Coast Titans have refused to discuss the reasoning behind terminating his contract with the club.

  1. I kept looking for two particular names on your list of dud buys by the Gold Coast.
Number two dud buy was: Leilani Latu . A star forward at Penrith, permanent first grader there. Number one dud buy was: Bryce Cartwright. Star first grader at Penrith in the forwards , or at 5/8th.
Both failed miserably at the Gold Coast.
So sorry THEPEOPLESDUDE. Youโ€™re just wrong.

  2. I think Bryce was left out as a past dud signing because the signing of Bryce by Parra will eclipse all dud signings in the history of footy.

  3. This article easily makes the “Top 10 Dud Zero Tackle Articles”.

No mention of Leilani Latu? Jarryd Hayne? Bryce Cartwright? Shannon Boyd? All signed on big money, all failed to deliver, all dud signings.

Poor form from THEPEOPLESDUDE, back to the drawing board and watch some more footy.

  4. Bat Eater – the difference with Parra signing Bryce is they are signing him on a minimum wage (or close to) contract of something around $100K as opposed to the $500K that the Titans signed him on.
There is a fairly decent gap in a clubs expectations of a player on $100K compared to one on $500K.

  5. Yes Beastie.
Main reason I had Latu at 2 & Bryce Cartwright at 1, as the Gold Coasts worst buys. I think Latu was on at least $400,000 a season & Cartwright $700,000 a season, at the Gold Coast.
Amazing that the club just got rid of both players, without being stuck with paying them money out of future salary caps. Unbelievable really! I think brown paper bags were handed over by the Gold Coast sponsors.
