Rumours are circulating that State of Origin representative Corey Oates may leave the comfort of Brisbane at seasons end. It’s well-known Oates has wanted a positional switch to the backrow for a while now but Brisbane’s lack of depth in their outside backs has seen that transition falter in recent years. It’s believed Oates is having a hard time breaking the news to master coach Wayne Bennett.
However, in a boost for Brisbane’s recruitment drive, the club is close to luring another State of Origin representative back to the club in the form of Gold Coast prop Jarrod Wallace.
Manly are already looking to replace troublesome half Jackson Hastings and the man they’ve set their sights on is none other than Fa’amanu Brown. Perhaps best known for the time he tried to charge his mobile device in a microwave, Brown played 25 matches for the Cronulla Sharks over four seasons before an unsuccessful move to Canterbury this season where he’s failed to get more game time despite the club lacking depth in the halfback position.
It’s been reported that Peter Sterling will make his long-awaited return to Channel Nine’s NRL Footy Show on Thursday evenings when current host Erin Molan goes on maternity leave. With the show struggling for ratings in 2018, many believed Paul Vautin would return to the fold, this wasn’t the case however with James Bracey and ‘Sterlo’ tipped to take the reins. Sterling hasn’t appeared on the show since 2010 and hasn’t been in the host role since 2006.
Another rumoured return see’s the ever-under-rated Leeson Ah Mau wanting a return to Queensland. The New Zealand born prop is most likely to replace Jarrod Wallace at the Titans if he chooses to leave for the Broncos.
Paul Green may have come out and explained that his coaching affairs didn’t play an impact on the Cowboys early fortunes to start the season but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
