After flying to Sydney to undertake a secret meeting, a Sydney club has tabled an offer to Gold Coast Titans forward David Fifita.
Losing James Fisher-Harris to the New Zealand Warriors, the Penrith Panther have been on the continuous lookout to fill his vacant spot in the team for next season.
Attempting to win their fourth consecutive NRL Premiership this season, the Panthers have reportedly tabled a multi-year contract to David Fifita, per The Sydney Morning Herald.
According to the publication, the Panthers have offered him a multi-year deal worth $850,000 a season, and he is expected to decide his future within the next 48 hours.
This comes after he flew to Sydney from the Gold Coast to meet Ivan Cleary, and they have close to $1 million in salary cap space free for next season following the high-profile departures of Fisher-Harris, Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva.
“I wouldn't be doing my job properly unless I investigated every option that was available to the club moving forward,” Matt Cameron, the club's Football Chief Executive said on Sunday.
“If David's services are available for the 2025 season, it would be remiss of us not to look at him.”
David Fifita has until the opening game of Round 10 to decide if he will take up an option with the Gold Coast Titans to remain at the club for the next two seasons.
It is understood that the second-rower has told those close to him that he wants to win a premiership, and it's hard to see him doing that at the Titans, who sit in 16th place on the NRL ladder at the present time.
His partner, Shaylee Bent, an NRLW player for the Titans is also originally from Glenmore Park - a suburb near Penrith - and is off-contract at the end of the season.
