Former South Sydney skipper John Sutton is still on track to feature for the Rabbitohs next season, despite not yet signing a contract for 2019.
The 34-year-old veteran played his 300th game for the club during the 2018 campaign, and is eager to play on into his 16th NRL season next year.
The Rabbitohs have just two spots left in their top 30, although it is widely believed those spots will go to Sutton and tryscoring winger Robert Jennings.
Sutton's manager Steve Gillis told AAP he also believes that will be the case.
“Still confident, just working through the process,” Gillis said.
“As you are aware Souths have two spots left in their top 30 and I anticipate one will be offered to John Sutton.”
Sutton impressed in 2018, and had one of his strongest seasons in Bunnies colours.
