South Sydney Rabbitohs backrower John Sutton is content in waiting to receive a contract extension with the Redfern club.
Sutton, who is in his 15th season in the NRL, is set to become the first ever player to reach 300 games for South Sydney come Saturday when they take on the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.
Despite being 'quietly confident' about securing a new one-year deal with the club, Sutton is prepared to wait while the club re-signs several promising youngsters for the future of the club.
Sutton told Fairfax Media on Monday he only has intentions of staying a one club player.
"I just have to keep playing well and hopefully they can fit me in," Sutton said.
"I'm quietly confident. I'm playing good football and my body is still good. I played every game last year and this year, so there's no reason I can't go around again.
"We have some great players coming through the club they are trying to re-sign, I understand that because they're the future of the club. I just have to bide my time and wait for things to pan out for me."
The milestone game will be rivaled by ex-teammate Robbie Farah's 250th game in a Wests Tigers jersey in the game which could give Souths their 10th straight win for the season.
The build-up to the ANZ showdown surrounds the milestone men, with Souths wearing specially made 300 t-shirts at training on Monday, with Sutton revealing he's not too focused on the milestone compared to the win itself, but admits there'll be a mixture of excitement and nerves come 5:30pm.
Sutton hasn't ruled out a possible move to the Super League in the future, but remains adamant he wants to play on at South Sydney.
"England is too far, too cold. I'd never say never because one of my good mates, Reni [Maitua], is doing player recruitment at [RLF Championship team] Toronto," Sutton said.
"You never know, I could hit him up to see what's going on over there. But I'd like to play another year at Souths. That's my focus."
