Feleti Mateo has been allowed to terminate his contract with the Salford Red Devils for family reasons.

The Tonga international loose forward joined the Red Devils just before the transfer deadline in July, but leaves after making only three appearances.

Mateo joined the Super League club at the same time as Luke Burgess, with both coming in fromย the NRL's Manly Sea Eagles.

A club statement read:ย "Salford Red Devils can confirm that recentย signing Feleti Mateo has been released from theย remainder of his contract toย return to Australia for family reasons.

"The club would like to wish Feleti well and thank him for his efforts."
