Rugby league legend Mark Carroll believes Australia coach Mal Meninga should abstain from selecting forward Josh McGuire for his future Kangaroos sides, after the Cowboy was suspended for another eye gouge.
McGuire can accept a three-game ban for an early plea after appearing to gouge at the eyes of Brisbane forward David Fifita, and Carroll says the "d***head" shouldn't be available for selection anymore on the international stage.
“I’ve called him the human grub because we can’t have this in our game,” Carroll told NRL Tonight.
“Anyone touching anyone’s eyes is an absolute disgrace.
“In my game 20 years ago ... if that happened in our game we would fix him up. These guys are too afraid to get up and start swinging punches because they are worried about getting sent off.
“If he was up for selection for Australia Mal Meninga can’t pick him, at all.
“Mal works on a no d***head policy ... I’ll say no more. It’s a disgrace.”
It's the third time this season McGuire has been charged by the match review committee for eye-gouging, after accepting fines for incidents involving Cameron Munster and Dylan Walker earlier this season.
