Round 6: Inconsistent Melbourne due a win?

Those tipping the NRL season at Superbru likely had a better Round 5 than they did Round 4 as the average correct outcomes crept to just under 5 out of 8 last week.

While there were no strong upsets, a few even games that went the way of the minority included the Roosters win over the Sharks (predicted by 41%) and the Wests Tigers win over Melbourne Storm (also called by 41%).

Despite having now lost two on the bounce, the majority are still backing the Storm to win this week in Round 6 against the Knights. Here’s some insight into the way the Superbru crowd are leaning for each of this week’s NRL fixtures – there appears to be far fewer even games than in previous rounds:

Roosters vs. Rabbitohs

Round Six of NRL begins at the Allianz Stadium as the Roosters take on the Rabbitohs on Thursday. Judging by the tips submitted thus far, this is a relatively comfortable start to the round as 91% are backing the Roosters. The average margin pick taken from all predictions submitted at the time of writing is for them to win by 7.23 – a relatively comfortable margin.

Storm vs. Knights

Melbourne’s loss to the Wests Tigers by 1 last time out means the 2017 Champions have now won 2 from 5 this season and will be eager to upgrade their win rate to 50% here against the Knights. 77% of Superbru tippers expect them to do so, with the average pick suggesting the home side will win by 5.

Dragons vs. Sharks

Interestingly, an identical percentage of 90% are backing the Dragons to win again this week just they have every game of the season so far. This week it’s the Sharks who have the daunting task of taking them on.

Warriors vs. Broncos

Another match that has a clear favourite at Superbru (could Round 6 be a walk in the park?), 91% of players are tipping the Warriors to also maintain their 100% record by beating the Broncos who are 2 from 5 in this 2018 campaign. The NZ side won by 10 last week against the Cowboys, and the average pick for this game suggests a similar score-line will be achieved here.

Cowboys vs. Bulldogs

Two teams that have each won just the one game so far this season, 86% have gone with home advantage here and backed the Cowboys to defeat the Bulldogs.

Raiders vs. Eels

Is this the week that sees the Eels get their first win of this year’s NRL tournament? Only 11% have faith! The average margin tip submitted at Superbru indicates the Raiders will win this by 5 and keep the Eels rooted to the bottom of the ladder.

Panthers vs. Titans

88% of players expect the Panthers to continue their strong start to the season with a win over the Titans. The Titans have also won their last two which suggests this one could be tricky for Penrith but the average overall tip of Panthers by 6 is still far higher than we have seen in many previous weeks.

Sea Eagles vs. Wests Tigers

They’ve had a strong start to the campaign, and now 68% of players are tipping the Wests Tigers to continue that form and beat Manly away this Sunday. The average tip for this final game of the round is for the West Tigers to win by 2.91.
