Robbie Farah being shopped to rivals

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are shopping veteran hooker Robbie Farah to rivals in a bid to offload him next season.

The SMH.com.au is reporting that Farah is one of the highest paid players in the NRL this season and the Rabbitohs are questioning his worth, with the younger Damien Cook getting the job done at much less the cost.

According to report, the Rabbitohs are only paying $200,000 of Farah's $950,000 salary this year, with the Wests Tigers paying the bulk of it.

That subsidy will finish at the end of the season though and several clubs have been approached about taking Farah on for next season.

It's likely the Rabbitohs would be forced to pay a fair portion of Farah's salary if he was to move on, much like the Wests Tigers have done this season but it remains to be seen if any NRL club would take the gamble on him for 2018.

Matthew Johns spoke on Triple M’s The Grill Team and suggested that the Newcastle Knights could be such a team if the price is right.

“At the right price. I’d say he’d be able to do a job at a certain club,” Johns said.

“Young Danny Levi’s a terrific young player at Newcastle, one of their better players, but who’s not to say he won’t go up there and school him for 12 months?

“But it’s at the right price. If it’s anything near the dollars we’ve just been talking about, it’s out of range.”

A few English Super League clubs expressed interest in Farah during his final months at the West Tigers and a move to England could still be a viable option.
