Warriors prop Albert Vete is set for a mid-season switch to Melbourne, following his release by New Zealand, according to Stuff.

The 25-year old has struggled with form this season, playing just the two games. Originally set to come out of contract at the end of next season, The Warrios released him ahead of the June 30 transfer deadline to pursue opportunities at other clubs.

Warriors general manager of football Brian Smith said it was a mutual split from both parties.

We are chock-a-block really as far as the salary cap is concerned and we're trying to get that into the right shape for us. So we made the decision and Albert goes with everyone's best wishes," Smith told Stuff.
"He's a great young man so we decided that was the best move for us and obviously for Albert as well."

Vete, who enjoyed an impressive rookie season, could yet relaunch his career in Melbourne under the leadership of Storm coach Craig Bellamy.
