Police are said to be investigating a brawl at a church dance in the Liverpool area on Friday night, with Manly Sea Eagles hooker Manase Fainu reportedly involved.

The incident saw a man stabbed, according to Sydney Morning Herald, although Fainu is not believed to be the man responsible.

Fainu's arm is currently in a sling after off-season shoulder surgery, but was reportedly caught up in the altercation, which broke out between a large group of people on Friday night.

The young hooker is now a person of interest with police.

Fainu has engaged with lawyer Elias Tabchouri, who will represent him if charges are laid, with no charges against the 21-year-old as it stands.

“Mr Fainu has again retained me and there arrangements are being made to hand himself into police to allow these matters to be processed,” Tabchouri told the Herald.

“Mr Fainu had previously sought to hand himself into police but unfortunately police were not available on the day.

“If and when he is charged, the allegations will become clearer. At that point in time we will be in a better position to properly comment on the matter.”

Fainu played 25 games for the Sea Eagles this season.
