Police are said to be investigating a brawl at a church dance in the Liverpool area on Friday night, with Manly Sea Eagles hooker Manase Fainu reportedly involved.

The incident saw a man stabbed, according to Sydney Morning Herald, although Fainu is not believed to be the man responsible.

Fainu's arm is currently in a sling after off-season shoulder surgery, but was reportedly caught up in the altercation, which broke out between a large group of people on Friday night.

The young hooker is now a person of interest with police.

Fainu has engaged with lawyer Elias Tabchouri, who will represent him if charges are laid, with no charges against the 21-year-old as it stands.

โ€œMr Fainu has again retained me and there arrangements are being made to hand himself into police to allow these matters to be processed,โ€ Tabchouri told theย Herald.

โ€œMr Fainu had previously sought to hand himself into police but unfortunately police were not available on the day.

โ€œIf and when he is charged, the allegations will become clearer. At that point in time we will be in a better position to properly comment on the matter.โ€

Fainu played 25 games for the Sea Eagles this season.
