Penrith is open to letting veteran five-eighth James Maloney head to England before his contract expires, if he wants to take up a deal in the Super League.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the news surrounding the 32-year-old comes after a tough start to the season for Penrith, with the club in 15th position at 2-7.
Coach Ivan Cleary has begun to swing the axe, with Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Josh Mansour dropped from this Friday's clash as the club try to pick up their campaign.
Despite Maloney being contracted until the end of the 2020 season, the Panthers have begun looking at cleaning out their roster, with a number of players being floated around the NRL.
Dallin Watene-Zelenziak has been offered to Parramatta, while Dylan Edwards has been linked with a move to far north Queensland.
Former general manager of football Phil Gould originally had to idea to allow Maloney to head to England last year, with the meeting aimed at letting the five-eighth go in the final season of his contract.
Even with Gould leaving the club, the Panthers are keen to re-open talks which could see Maloney play abroad in 2020.
