This could be huge!

Sydney Roosters star Latrell Mitchell has seen his name linked with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, as the Bunnies look for a long-term replacement at centre for the recently retired Greg Inglis.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Roosters are gearing up to fight off an approach from the Bunnies, with club officials believing people are speaking to Mitchell and trying to convince him on a move to Redfern.

While the Rabbitohs are denying they're trying to replace Inglis with a big-name recruit, the jungle drums are beating louder and louder, with Brisbane's James Roberts seemingly at the head of the list.

The Bunnies wouldn't be able to afford both Roberts and Mitchell, meaning they'd have to choose between the duo if they were both available.

South Sydney are still waiting on the NRL to confirm whether Inglis' salary will be exempt from their 2019 and 2020 salary cap, after the star centre walked away from a $1.5 million deal to retire.
