Newcastle are out to add more depth to their backline for the 2019 season, with the club reportedly targeting South Sydney's Hymel Hunt and Melbourne's Scott Drinkwater, according to the Newcastle Herald.
With most big names around the league signed up for next season, the Knights will be looking to bring Hunt and Drinkwater to the club's headquarters over the coming weeks, in a bid to lure them to McDonald Jones Stadium.
Hunt has spent the past three seasons at the Rabbitohs, but has failed to cement a spot in the outside backs, playing 13, 12 and 12 games each season since arriving.
The 24-year-old would be the third addition to the Knights' backline for 2019 if he does indeed sign, with Edrick Lee and Jesse Ramien already committed to the club for next season.
Drinkwater on the other hand is yet to make his NRL debut, but is a handy utility who can play fullback or five-eighth.
The 21-year-old has reportedly turned down an offer from the Bulldogs, and it currently considering a deal on the table from the Storm.
