Star Manly duo Jake and Tom Trbojevic could be set for mega contract extensions that will see them remain at the Sea Eagles, although Canterbury has confirmed their interest in the pair, and will make a play for the brothers on November 1 if they're still on the market.
The Sea Eagles have recently spoken about a huge five-year, $10m deal for the pair, as they look to sign extensions before entering the final season of their contract in 2020.
However, the Dogs will have a lot of salary cap space for the 2021 season, and CEO Andrew Hill confirmed to Fox Sports the club would be interested in the Trbojevic brothers.
“We’d certainly be interested if they were on the market come November 1,” Hill said.
The Dogs will have open space in their cap in two years time, with the big-money contracts of stars like Kieran Foran, Josh Jackson and Will Hopoate all ending after the 2020 campaign.
A number of other players come out of contract at the end of that season, meaning the club will have a lot of flexibility for their 2021 cap.
Manly are still hellbent on keeping the pair, but will need to work their deals around captain Daly Cherry-Evans, whose contract takes up 16% of the club's cap space until the end of the 2023 season.
