Off-contract Broncos hooker Jake Turpin is gaining the interest of several rival clubs, according to a report by Nine.

The Bulldogs are the front runners with money to spend and the belief that the young hooker and make-shift half-back could be the answer to their current void. They aren't the only ones, with as many as six clubs believed to be interested in bringing the Broncos rookie south of the border.

Reports yesterday suggested Turpin was close to re-signing with the Broncos but with veteran Andrew McCullough set to activate an option in his contract to stay with Brisbane they may not be able to entice the young gun with an offer that is competitive with NSW clubs.

The West Tigers are another team looking for a new hooker but both the Tigers and Bulldogs may have to wait another year to get Turpin's services depending on whether he wishes to fight McCullough for the role in the team or look to other avenues.

The struggling Broncos are 5-8 and face the Knights this week in a swing match in Newcastle.
