The off-season is a very important period for NRL coaches to try and strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Every NRL club dipped into the player market in the last few months but some were busier than others.

Here's a ranking of how each club fared with player signings ahead of the 2019 season.

Melbourne Storm

Signings: Tom Eisenhuth, Marion Seve, Albert Vete

No major signings for the Storm with two youngsters Tom Eisenhuth (Penrith) and Marion Seve (Broncos), along with Albert Vete (Warriors) the only new additions upon an already strong squad.

Brisbane Broncos

Signings: Shaun Fensom, Sean O'Sullivan

Always reliable forward Shaun Fensom is the highest profile signing for Brisbane while their halves depth has been bolstered by the inclusion of 2018 Roosters debutant Sean O'Sullivan.

New Zealand Warriors

Signings: Leeson Ah Mau, Lachlan Burr, Adam Keighran

Leeson Ah Mau returns to his old club after making his NRL debut with the Warriors ten years ago.

Lachlan Burr joins from the Bulldogs and young half Adam Keighran is a contender for the vacant halfback position.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Signings: Corey Allan, Cory Denniss, Kurt Dillon, Liam Knight, Matt McIlwrick, Bayley Sironen

Souths have added six new players to their squad however they've only played 90 games combined with journeyman hooker Matt McIlwrick making up 56 of those appearances.

Angus Crichton's loss leaves a big hole but they have enough forward depth to cover it.

Corey Allan

Manly Sea Eagles

Signings: Brendan Elliot, Kane Elgey, Reuben Garrick, Corey Waddell

Three-quarter Brendan Elliot joins the backline ranks of Manly while five-eighth Kane Elgey who showed plenty of potential at the Titans appears to be the first permanent solution to the No.6 jumper since Kieran Foran.

Penrith Panthers

Signings: Tyrell Fuimaono, Tim Grant, Hame Sele, Malakai Watene-Zelezniak

Two former Penrith players return to the club in the shape of Tim Grant and Malakai Watene-Zelezniak who both depart the Tigers.

Promising young forwards Tyrell Fuimaono and Hame Sele join a plethora of youthful forward options for Ivan Cleary.

Canberra Raiders

Signings: John Bateman, Ryan Sutton, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad

English forwards John Bateman and Ryan Sutton are set to add some mongrel to a Raiders pack who are dealing with the loss of Shannon Boyd (Titans) and Junior Paulo (Eels).

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is a handy pick-up for Canberra and a potential candidate to take over the reins at fullback with Jack Wighton destined for a move to the halves.

Wests Tigers

Signings: Ryan Matterson, Zane Musgrove, Paul Momirovski, Robert Jennings

The Tigers have picked up Roosters duo Ryan Matterson and Paul Momirovski along with Rabbitohs pair Robert Jennings and troubled front rower Zane Musgrove.

Matterson is a Premiership-winner after 2018's triumph and Momirovski has a promising career ahead of him.

Musgrove got into some off-field trouble before appearing in a Tigers jersey, which is an unfortunate setback for the club.

The late pickup of Rabbitohs leading try-scorer Jennings gives them plenty of options in their backline.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

Signings: Jack Cogger, Christian Crichton, Corey Harawira-Naera, Nick Meaney, Dylan Napa, Sauaso Sue, Chris Smith

With major salary cap issues forcing the Morris brothers, Moses Mbye, Aaron Woods and David Klemmer out of the club, the Bulldogs were left short of big names.

They've been forced to focusing on recruiting young talents such as Newcastle duo Jack Cogger and Nick Meaney.

Handy back-rower Corey Harawira-Naera and rep forward Dylan Napa will slot straight into the starting line-up.

Cronulla Sharks

Signings: Shaun Johnson, Josh Morris

The Sharks' signings aren't about quantity this season, it's about quality.

Shaun Johnson is one of the most exciting players in the league on his day and Josh Morris is one of the best centres of the decade and always reliable in defence and attack.

Parramatta Eels

Signings: Maika Sivo, Blake Ferguson, Shaun Lane, Junior Paulo

The Eels think they have a Semi Radradra clone in the shape of Fijian flyer Maika Sivo who signs from Penrith.

Junior Paulo adds much-needed bulk to the forward pack with his return to the club.

Blake Ferguson is a huge signing for the Eels after a strong 2018 for the Roosters and Shaun Lane is a brilliant addition after proving his worth and consistency at Manly.

St George Illawarra Dragons

Signings: Corey Norman, Lachlan Maranta, Korbin Sims, Jonus Pearson, Mikaele Ravalawa, Lachlan Timm

Corey Norman's signing completes a star-studded spine for the Dragons, as he's set to start alongside his former Brisbane teammate Ben Hunt in the halves, pushing Gareth Widdop to fullback.

The Dragons went after a couple more Brisbane players with Korbin Sims a solid addition to the front row and Jonus Pearson bringing backline depth.

Former Brisbane winger Lachlan Maranta returns to the NRL after an unsuccessful rugby stint.

North Queensland Cowboys

Signings: Kurt Baptiste, Jordan Kahu, Josh McGuire, Nene Macdonald, Tom Opacic

After Ben Barba's quick departure, Paul Green was looking for an instant replacement and he looks to have found that with Jordan Kahu, one of Brisbane's most consistent performers in recent years.

Rep forward Josh McGuire is an important boost to a strong forward pack and Nene Macdonald adds some flair to the attack.

Sydney Roosters

Signings: Angus Crichton, Craig Garvey, Ryan Hall, Brock Lamb, Brett Morris

The Roosters have added NSW back-rower Angus Crichton after signing him back in 2017. Craig Garvey provides cover for Jake Friend and Brock Lamb is waiting in the wings for Cooper Cronk's retirement.

Ryan Hall and Brett Morris will provide healthy competition for the outside backs especially after Morris' performance in the World Club Challenge.

Gold Coast Titans

Signings: Jesse Arthars, Shannon Boyd, Ryley Jacks, Tyrone Roberts, Tyrone Peachey, Brian Kelly

The Titans have had another very strong off-season in terms of players they've managed to snare.

Ryley Jacks and Tyrone Roberts will be fighting over a halves berth alongside Ash Taylor.

Shannon Boyd is the type of player Titans needed to strengthen their forward pack.

Tyrone Peachey has made the move up to the Gold Coast and adds some much-needed versatility. Brian Kelly will certainly bring more potency to the Titans' left edge too.

Newcastle Knights

Signings: James Gavet, Tim Glasby, Hymel Hunt, David Klemmer, Edrick Lee, Mason Lino, Kurt Mann, Jesse Ramien, Zac Woolford

The Knights continued their rebuild with another host of new signings. Nathan Brown will be sure to have a selection headache with the number of forwards within the club.

Tim Glasby and David Klemmer bring experience to the Knights pack while Jesse Ramien, Hymel Hunt, Edrick Lee all add further options for Newcastle's backline.

Mason Lino and Zac Woolford provide positional cover while Kurt Mann can virtually play anywhere in the starting 13.
