South Sydney have announced the signing of 19-year-old fullback Steven Marsters for season 2020.

Marsters has played his fair share of representative matches at such a young age, playing for the New Zealand under 18s back as early as 2016 before graduating to the Junior Kiwis in years 2017 and 2018.

The New Zealander made his senior debut when he represented Cook Islands against South Africa in a World Cup Qualifying match this June.

The cousin of New Zealand international Esan Marsters, the youngster has already developed his skills training with St George Illawarra Dragons and Illawarra Steelers recently.

Weighing in at 99 kg and 183 cm, Marsters turns 20 in October this year - and will be ready for his NRL debut with the Rabbitohs next year. Rabbitohs General Manager of Football Shane Richardson is excited by the possibility of adding Marsters.

"We're delighted to be able to give Steven an opportunity to play for South Sydney next season," said Richardson.

"Steven is a talented fullback who can play in other positions in the backline and he will add to our depth in the outside back.

"He has already represented at the international level in both junior and senior football and, at only 19 years of age, we're looking forward to seeing him further develop his game towards an NRL debut."
