St George Illawarra winger Jordan Pereira has been taken to hospital following a nasty incident in a Canterbury Cup game against Newtown on Saturday.
Early in the first half, Pereira scored a try in the corner, but found himself in an awkward position as he touched the ball down, which led him to landing on his neck.
Jordan Pereira was stretchered off in a neck brace (via @RealBigDell) after landing heavily on his head/neck in scoring a try. Really hope only a nerve traction injury (burner/stinger) & no fracture, thoughts go out to him & fingers crossed itโs only precautionary pic.twitter.com/UUDsFUYBkA

Pereira lay still on the floor after the incident, and needed to be stretchered off the field.
The Dragons released the following statement on Twitter on Saturday.
Jordan Pereira remains in hospital and is awaiting follow up scans. We'll update #redv members and fans when all relevant information is available.
