Jarome Luai has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Penrith Panthers, who will retain his signature until at least the end of 2021.
Luai had his first-grade debut with the Panthers in Round 10 of this season, and showed his immense potential with a two-try, best-on-ground appearance against the Warriors in Round 17.
With James Maloney contracted until 2020 and looking to retire soon after, Luai is being groomed as the heir to his five-eighth's throne.
Luai came up through Penrith's junior program in tandem with Nathan Cleary, who has also been signed until 2023.
"I feel blessed to re-sign with Panthers because Penrith is my home," Luai told Panthers Media.
"It was an easy decision for me as I've come through the Panthers system with so many of the players here and we're basically a family.
"A lot of us have kids as well so to watch them grow up together will be special.
"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to work with the likes of Nathan Cleary and James Maloney as I continue to improve my game."
