Penrith have signed veteran Frank Winterstein from Manly on a one-year deal ahead of the 2019 campaign.
Winterstein has been training with the squad since Monday, and the 32-year-old can't wait to get stuck in to the season proper.
“It was a bit of whirlwind last weekend with everything falling into place for me to join the Panthers,” Winterstein told penrithpanthers.com.au.
“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given and look forward to working with the talented players and coaches.
“I’ve been in the professional sport environment for a long time and I know I can use that experience to help the young players here, on and off the field.”
Winterstein played 41 games for the Sea Eagles after joining the club in August 2016, following stints playing league over in England and rugby union.
Penrith's Executive General Manager Phil Gould was pleased to bring someone of Winterstein's experience into the club.
“It’s a bonus for our club to gain a player of Frank’s experience and ability at this stage of the season,” Gould added.
“He gives our roster added depth in a key position.”
