NRL Team of the Week: Round 9

1. James Tedesco (Sydney Roosters)

Scored a try and set up three others as the Roosters went on to defeat the Canberra Raiders in a top of the table clash that certainly met expectations.

2. Corey Oates (Brisbane Broncos)

Scored a try and ran for over 200 run metres as the Brisbane Broncos recorded just their third win of the season.

3. Josh Morris (Cronulla Sharks)

Bagged a double as the Sharks won their first back to back game since Round three this season.

4. Curtis Scott (Melbourne Storm)

Having spent the previous fortnight in the Queensland Cup, Curtis Scott returned to the Melbourne line up with a point to prove. Scored a length of the field try, recorded two line breaks, broke eight tackles and finished the game with 270 run metres.

5. Josh Addo-Carr (Melbourne Storm)

Scored two tries and ran for 180 metres with ball in hand during Melbourne’s best 80-minute performance as a team this season.

6. Cameron Munster (Melbourne Storm)

Cemented his position as the first man picked for the Maroons in the upcoming State of Origin series after a Man of the Match performance. Scored two tries, set another up, broke eight tackles and ran for 170 run metres.

7. Mitchell Pearce (Newcastle Knights)

Continues an impressive streak of football since the team came under scrutiny several weeks ago. Scored a try, took the line on and had the ball on a string with an equally impressive kicking game.

8. David Klemmer (Newcastle Knights)

Ran for over 160 run metres and completed close to 50 tackles. Will be one of the first forwards picked for New South Wales once again.

9. Damien Cook (South Sydney Rabbitohs)

The diminutive rake gets better and better with every game. After setting up three tries, the cheeky hooker slid in for one of his own in the opening stages of the second half. Was also busy in defence with 51 tackles.

10. Payne Haas (Brisbane Broncos)

This 20-year-old must really find first grade easy. In just his eight first grade appearance, the hulking prop ran for 202 running metres, completed 32 tackles and broke nine of the oppositions attempts of tackle.

11. Ryan Matterson (Wests Tigers)

Has proven to be one of the signings of the season for the Western Sydney club. Set up two tries, ran for 150 run metres and completed 40 tackles.

12. Sam Burgess (South Sydney Rabbitohs)

Scored a try, ran for 155 run metres, completed 21 tackles – including a try saver on John Asiata – and broke a handful of his own tackles.

13. Paul Gallen (Cronulla Sharks)

Ran for 200 run metres for the first time since Round 14 of last season in what was his best performance of season 2019 thus far. Scored a try, kicked a goal and completed 27 tackles.
