The Newcastle Knights have granted utility Tyler Randellโ€™s request for an immediate release.

Randell is a local junior, who played from Harold Matts in 2007 through to making his NRL debut in 2014. The 24-year-old has since played 44 NRL games.

It was a difficult decision for the Club to make at this stage of the season, however, theย Club accepts it is in Randellโ€™s best interest.

โ€œThis is an opportunity that provides security for Tyler and his family long-term,โ€ CEO Matt Gidley said.

โ€œTyler was a popular member of the team and he made a great contribution on and off the field over many years.

โ€œWe thank Tyler and wish he and his family all the best for the future.โ€

Randell will take up an immediate opportunity with another Club.

โ€œThe Knights is all I have known and it has been a tough decision to leave,โ€ Randell said.

โ€œI have loved playing here and I will definitely miss everyone at the Club, including the fans.โ€
