Gold Coast Titans recruit Kieran Foran has revealed that he isn't set on the idea of retirement once his two-year deal at the Gold Coast Titans comes to an end.
The veteran half has struggled with injuries for much of his career, but managed to put together a stable 2022 campaign at the Manly Sea Eagles on the back of doing similar in 2021, when the side made the preliminary finals.
Forming a solid partnership with Daly Cherry-Evans, Foran managed 49 games across his two seasons with the Sea Eagles, scoring six tries.
It took his career tally past the 250 mark, and he could go to more than 300 games should he manage to stay relatively fit over the next two years as he attempts to turn the Titans around after their dismal 2022 campaign.
The shocking 2022 campaign followed the departure of Jamal Fogarty, with head coach Justin Holbrook instead opting to use a young spine.
Foran told News Corp that he isn't done yet, and has visions of playing on beyond the end of 2024 in what will be good news for Titans fans, who desperately need his experience on the park.
“You never say never,” he said.
“When my Titans deal ends, I will be 34, but it comes down to form doesn't it?
“If I am playing good footy and the Titans are winning games, there is no reason there has to be an end point. But I understand it's a results-driven business and that will determine whether I continue on with the Titans or whether this next deal will be it.
“It's on me to perform.”
Foran suggested that he is not an injury risk for the Titans, and that he wants to play finals in 2023.
“From my point of view, I'm not coming to the Titans to take it easy,” Foran said.
“I am not going up there to cruise and make up the numbers. I'm competitive and I have a complete belief the Titans have the talent to do something special in the coming years and I want to be a part of that.
“I am going up there to play finals next season and one day win a competition with the Titans.
“I am confident I am not a risk for the Titans.
“I can understand the critics out there saying I've had my fair share of injuries and why would the Titans sign me, but I have shown in the past 18 months the hard work I have done has paid off for my body."
Foran will officially start pre-season in the new year after being part of the New Zealand Rugby League World Cup squad who made the semi-finals, ultimately losing to Australia.
