The Melbourne Storm hope that Billy Slater decides to play another season with the club but will not pressure him into a decision.
Storm Football Director Frank Ponissi said the club would be thrilled to have the champion fullback play on in 2018.

โWeโve had some preliminary talks asking Billy about his current thoughts and at some stage, we will escalate things further.
โWe have enormous respect for what Billy has done for this club and for that reason we donโt want to pressure him into a decision.โโ
โWeโre still not sure if Billy will be here next year, but weโre hoping. I see no reason whatsoever why Billy canโt play on for another 12 months.
โThe only issue for us would be if Billy decided he has had enough.โ
