Brisbane's Matt Lodge has ripped into former teammate Josh McGuire following Thursday night's heated clash against the Cowboys in Townsville.
The duo were going at it all night in what was a fiery contest between the Queensland teams.
Channel 9's Brad Fittler spoke to Lodge about his niggle with McGuire.
“Lodgy, you and Josh McGuire got going?” Fittler asked.
“Nah we’re good mates, it was all in the spirit of the game,” Lodge responded.
The Broncos enforcer continued:“No I don’t like him."
“I’m glad because I don’t think I treat my mates like that,” remarked Fittler.
Lodge detailed how much of a physical battle the game was.
“It was rough in the middle it’s always a fast game against them, I don’t know why,” he said.
“I felt like we were on top a bit but didn’t capitalise and it just went down to the wire again.
“It’s good that we hung in tough. We could have thrown the game away and dropped our bundle a bit but we kept competing and got in to them.”
Another incident saw McGuire involved in an alleged eye gouging incident on David Fifita.
Fox League's Michael Ennis saw no malice in the action with McGuire at his pestering best.
“His hand certainly comes into contact with the Brisbane player’s face,” Michael Ennis told Thursday Night League on Fox League.
“Hard to see on that angle whereabouts his thumb is, but it looks as though he’s just leaning on his face.
“But given his history, you would think he’d steer clear of that.”
