Penrith and NSW five-eighth James Maloney is still looking at moving to the Super League at the end of the 2020 season, despite a strong performance for the Blues in Origin II.

Maloney has one year remaining on his deal with the Panthers, but is still looking at heading overseas to finish his career.

"It's nice to be back with the Blues and playing, but it doesn't change my overall outlook with what I do moving forward,'' Maloney told the Sydney Morning Herald.

ย "I'm not actively looking, but I'd be silly not to look at something if it popped up. I've only got 12 months left at Penrith. I always felt my time over here [in the NRL] would be done after that.

"You have to wonder if those [Super League] options will be available next year. I wouldn't do a one-year deal over there. It would have to be two or three. My body would be fine over there.''

Maloney spoke last year about his future, with the Super League seemingly always on his radar.

โ€œIโ€™ve hopefully got another few years left and that it doesnโ€™t end too abruptly," Maloney told theย Nepean Newsย in July last year.

"My bodyโ€™s alright at the moment and if we get through that, no worries and Iโ€™ll see what happens when that time comes.

"But while I donโ€™t think I will be in the NRL (once my contract with Penrith finishes), if I am able to keep playing it might be (through) a little stint overseas and do some travel, which would be a good opportunity for the family to do so.โ€

The Super League is notoriously less physical, with halves players such as Blake Austin flourishing overseas after struggling in the NRL.
