Newcastle are close to confirming the signing of Queensland forward Aidan Guerra for next season, with Sydney Roosters teammate Shaun Kenny-Dowall also a chance to join the Knights before the Juno 30 deadline.
It's understood the Knights and Guerra have agreed to terms on a three-year deal and Guerra will join the club in 2018.
Knights coach Nathan Brown is still keen to sign Guerra's teammate Shaun Kenny-Dowall who is facing drug possession charges later this month.
Kenny-Dowall was stood down by the Roosters indefinetly in May after he was allegedly caught with half a gram of cocaine at a Sydney nightclub.
Kenny-Dowall is expected to be released by the Roosters next week.
