The Titans have announced Tyrone Roberts as the club's skipper for the rest of the season, replacing Ryan James following his ACL injury.

Roberts has been in impressive form since returning from injury in round four, scoring three tries in two matches to help guide Gold Coast to wins over Penrith and Newcastle.

Titans coach Garth Brennan announced the news on Wednesday morning.

“Tyrone plays in the halves and provides a lot of leadership and direction when out on the field,” Brennan told the club website.

“He has been involved in the game for a long time and has some big-game experience.

“He has returned home and been a good sounding board for a lot of the group. I know he will continue to do the same, albeit with a little more added responsibility.

“Tyrone has some real experience around him, and I know there will be a lot of players helping him out.

“The loss of Ryan is huge. We all know what he brings to the club and how much the club means to him.

“It is unfortunate we have to continue without him out on the field, but I’m sure he will be around helping everyone out as the season goes on.”

The 27-year old old has totalled 142 NRL games.
