Sharks co-captain Paul Gallen will play on into a 19th NRL season for the club in 2019, as reported byย NRL.com.

The 37-year old made his NRL debut in 2001 and has since played in 25 Origin matches for the Blues and totalled 32 caps for Australia.

It comes after the star lock told Nine Network'sย 100% Footyย on Monday that coach Shane Flanagan left the ball in his court and that he wanted to make a call prior to the team's finals campaign.

The veteran has played 321 NRL games, which ranks fourth all-time, and led the Sharks to their only premiership in 2016.

He is set to surpassย Andrew Ettingshausen's club record of 328 appearances for Cronulla.
