The Bulldogs have re-signed coach Dean Pay for an additional season, tying him to the club until the end of 2020.

Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill confirmed the news via the club website.

"The Bulldogs are a club that absolutely believes in supporting our people to be the best they can be," he toldย bulldogs.com.au.

"We believe it is important to give Dean the backing to lead our young squad forward. Our role as a club is to provide Dean with the best possible environment to succeed.

"By extending his contract we are showing the faith in him that is a crucial part of that process. We are a strong and united club looking to lay the platform for future success and Dean's extension is part of our overall plan moving forward."

"The NRL is generally not a patient sport, but that said, some things simply take time. Giving a coach only 12 months with an inherited squad and severalย challenges was not an option for the current Board and Management. We support our people and believe in Dean's ability and want to provide him with the best environment to succeed."

Pay was proud to extend his stay at Canterbury and is excited by the potential of the team.

"I'd firstly like to thank the Board for the faith that they have shown in me and I'm genuinely excited about the future of this club," he told bulldogs.com.au.

"We have a young squad that has great potential and anything we achieve in the future will be based on the simple principles of hard work and togetherness. This is a proud club with an incredibly passionate supporter base and I want us to play the type of football that brings them the success that they deserve."

  1. Wow just wow

    I dont get why..

There has been no improvement so far in the team on the 1st 2 rounds

This may come back and.bite the board

    Its one thing not winning
Its another getting belted every week

  2. Why???
All he did was hype up there off season and say how much better they will be in 2019 after they finished 2018 better and they have only gotten worse. It took them till round 3 to start Meaney who everyone predicted to start fullback round 1. Rhyse Martin, most improved player for them last year, kicks goals for fun, a huge hit with the fans and a good young prospect had to start the year in reserve grade and has already spoken with his Manager about leaving if he wonโ€™t get played.
Itโ€™s all absolutely stupid. He isnโ€™t a First grade coach needs to be an assistant for abit longer. Better off signing Shane Flanagan, Laurie Daley, Steve McNamara or anyone but Dean Pay
