Josh Dugan is a chance to play for the Dragons this week after scans revealed the injury isn't as bad as first feared.
Dugan failed to finish the match against Rabbitohs on the weekend after he rolled his ankle while attempting a tackle.
Dragons fans feared the worst, with Dugan looking to be in a lot of pain from the injury.
Scans have since revealed a best case scenario for St George Illawarra as they look to regain a spot in the Top 8, with Dugan a chance to play this week with some rehab.
Dragons Head of Athletic Performance Nathan Pickworth had the following to say on the injury.
"Josh obviously rolled his ankle on Friday night," said Pickworth.
"The MRI scan has revealed he's got some damage to his lateral ligaments.
"We're fortunate those ligaments can settle down pretty quickly.
"So we'll see how he goes throughout the week and give him every chance to play."
Josh Dugan confirmed lateral ligament sprain, no syndesmosis injury. Chance to play this wk, usually 1-3 wk recoveryhttps://t.co/TIDO01QJUq
