Sydney Roosters hooker and State of Origin hopeful Jake Friend has been ruled out for an extensive period of time with a ruptured bicep.
The Roosters co-captain suffered the injury blow during Thursday's ANZAC Day match against St George Illawara, with Sydney victorious in the 20-10 affair.
Friend is likely to spend close to four months on the sidelines, ruling him out of a potential State of Origin series with the opening fixture on June 5.
The Roosters' No.9 was one of his side's best before falling to injury in Thursday's win, with his Dragon counterpart Ben Hunt now a likely candidate to become the next Maroons hooker.
Hunt too picked up a shoulder injury in the cash, but the Saints medical team were confident Hunt had avoided any serious damage.

Terrible news Friend. At least his season is not over and if he is out for 4 months then he will be back two or three weeks out from the finals. Other reports suggest he could be out for only 3 months which will give him 7 weeks out from the semis to get his match fitness up to scratch. Never mind at least he will be fit for the big games and Radley will be able to cover no trouble at all. ๐ช๐๐——๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
