Fair to say Manly did not need this.

Sea Eagles star Tom Trbojevic is set to miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury, according to the Herald.

The 22-year old hurt his hamstring in Manly's 28-22 loss to Cronulla at Shark Park on Saturday and is expected to be sidelined for the first three to four rounds of the NRL season.

The club will not rush Trbojevic back onto the park, with Brendan Elliott looming likely as his replacement at fullback.

Elliott filled in the No. 1 jersey when Trbojevic exited the game on Saturday and will be keen to make the most of his opportunity.

In further news, props Kelepi Tanginoa and Tanieli Paseka are expected to be out for four weeks with knee injuries.

It leaves considerable holes in coach Des Hasler's team, further exasperated by the drawn out charges to Dylan Walker.

It is less than ideal conditions for Manly a month out from the season coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign.
