Off-contract Eels star Jarryd Hayne has revealed he wants to remain at Parramatta next season as the club's fullback.
The 30-year old signed with the Eels at the start of 2018 on a discounted one-year deal, and after starting slowly, returned to his brilliant best form in the second half of the season.
Hayne finished with a team-high 10 tries from 15 games, also leading the club in line breaks and tackle busts.
And with Parramatta's season officially over, Hayne has indicated that he would like to stick around.
“That obviously would be good, yeah,” Hayne told Fairfax Media.
“I always knew that when I was fully healthy I’d be able to do what I do. It was good to personally finish strong but I’d rather win a few more games.”
Asked where his preferred position to play is, Hayne said: "I think I answered that [against the Roosters]," referring to his dominant performance where he ran 132 metres and totalled eight tackle-breaks and scored a try.
Hayne has coach Brad Arthur's backing to remain an Eel too, and the ex-Titan holds no regrets about his decision to return to Sydney's west.
“It was good to come back and do what I could, helping out in whatever way I could. Obviously it’s disappointing, we don’t want to be here. We just couldn’t get into our groove this year. We showed signs and patches at the end there but we were way too slow to start the year.
“It wasn’t good enough. We knew we had to put back to back games together. It took too long to get going.”
