ANZ Stadium will undergo a $700m redevelopment after the 2018 Grand Final.
The unanswered question that we wanted an answer to is where the NRL Grand Final be played at next.
The city of Brisbane has expressed their utmost interest to host the big dance.
However, it's been revealed that the Sydney Cricket Ground will host their first Rugby League Grand Final in 30 years.
Rugby league is planning an unexpected return to the Sydney Cricket Ground when ANZ Stadium is unavailable due to reconstruction.
The National Rugby League and State Government are in agreeing on bringing the big dance back to Sydney's spiritual ground.
The State Government receives $30m from tourism each year from the Grand Final, for that being part of the reason the Government is interested in the game.
“All rugby league fans will be salivating at the prospect of having a grand final back at the SCG,” Mr Baird said.
“Sydney is the home of rugby league so it would be fitting if the famous old ground hosted a grand final while our world-class, new rectangular stadium at ANZ is under construction.”
“Clearly we want to work with the NSW Government on the best solution for fans and the SCG is one of the options,” Mr Greenberg said.
“I was at the last grand final there in 1987 and it will always be etched in my memory.
“A return to the SCG would be historic and nostalgic but we need to work out the availability of ANZ before a final decision is made.”
